Laurence Belfer is Chief Executive Officer of Belfer Management LLC, a family investment firm based in New York, that emphasizes the energy, real estate and financial services industries. The Belfer family has been investing in the energy business for approximately 60 years, the real estate business for approximately 50 years and the financial services business for approximately 30 years. Previously, Laurence served as Vice-Chairman, President and Chief Operating of Belco Oil and Gas Corp. (NYSE). He previously served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Castleton Commodities International LLC, 2013 - 2020. In addition, he serves on the board of The Belfer Foundation and the 92nd St.Y, where he chaired the 92Y American Conversation. He is a member of the International Council of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and serves on the advisory board of the Morgan Stanley Institute for Sustainable Investing. Laurence is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute. He is a 1988 graduate with honors from Harvard University who earned his Juris Doctor degree from Columbia Law School in 1992. He and his wife, Carolyn, their two sons and daughter live in New York, NY.
