Christopher “Woody” Marshall joined Technology Crossover Ventures in 2008, where he focuses on payments, mobile and internet startups. He led TCV’s investments in prepaid debit-card company Green Dot, which went public last year. Marshall also led TCV’s investment in and serves on the board of vacation home rental business HomeAway.com, which just filed for its IPO, revealing TCV’s hefty 15% stake. Marshall also serves on the board of XATA (software for fleet management) and financial news site TheStreet.com. Woody spent 12 years at Trident Capital, a leading venture capital and private equity firm focused on the software, business services and internet markets. At Trident, Woody focused on the payments, internet and communications technology markets. Woody worked closely with many Trident investments including Advanced Payment Solutions, AccountNow, Bytemobile, Merchant eSolutions, MapQuest, SideStep and Xata.Prior to joining Trident, Woody was an Associate with the Leveraged Capital Group of Banque Paribas. Earlier in his career, Woody was a Financial Analyst in the Corporate Finance department of Chase Manhattan Bank, where he specialized in merchant banking transactions.
