Raymond J. Harbert graduated from Auburn University in 1982 with a degree in Industrial Management and immediately began his career with Harbert International, Inc., a subsidiary of Harbert Corporation. In December 1986, Mr. Harbert was named President of Harbert Properties Corporation, Harbert Corporation's real estate subsidiary. In January 1989, Mr. Harbert was elected Vice President of the holding company, Harbert Corporation, where his responsibilities included overseeing subsidiary operations, managing corporate mergers and acquisitions, and reviewing and making equity and venture capital placements. Mr. Harbert was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of Harbert Corporation in July 1990. In 1994, Mr. Harbert formed Harbert Management Corporation (HMC) as an alternative asset investment management firm. Mr. Harbert currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Harbert Management Corporation. Mr. Harbert serves on the Board of Trustees of Auburn University, serves as a Trustee for the State of Alabama Trust Fund, and serves as a Trustee of the Robert Meyer Foundation. He is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Children’s Hospital of Alabama. In addition, Mr. Harbert serves as a member of the President’s Advisory Board of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and serves on the Benefactors Society Board for The College Foundation for the University of Virginia. Mr. Harbert is a past member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and Leadership Alabama. In 2006, Mr. Harbert was awarded the regional Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Financial Services.
