Sandford D Smith

Sandford Smith joined Genzyme in 1996. He is responsible for all of Genzyme’s commercial activities for the lysosomal storage disorder, renal, transplant and biosurgery products outside of the United States. Mr. Smith served as vice president and general manager of Genzyme International and president of Genzyme Specialty Therapeutics before being named to his current position in 1998. Prior to joining Genzyme, Mr. Smith was president and chief executive officer at Repligen Corporation. He has also served as vice president of business development and strategic planning for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. Mr. Smith has a B.A. from the University of Denver.
