Tsai Ming-kai

Tech tycoon Tsai has made his fortune as leader of Mediatek, one of the world's largest semiconductor design houses. Tsai's wealth is down from a year earlier after a business slump hit Mediatek's shares. The company said in January that sales dropped by 22% in the fourth quarter of 2010 from a year earlier. It blamed lower prices and the appreciation of the New Taiwan dollar against the U.S. dollar. Works with Microsoft on smartphone technology. Tsai holds bachelor's and master's degrees in electric engineering from National Taiwan University and University of Cincinnati respectively.
