In the fall of 2009 the Cirque du Soleil founder became the first clown in space when he blasted into orbit after 6 months training in Russia. Back on Earth, his circus continues to expand across the map with 22 shows in spread throughout the U.S., Europe, Africa and Asia. Planning to partner with the Light Group to build a Cirque themed mega-club in Las Vegas next year. The former fire-breather started Cirque du Soleil in 1984 with a gang of street performing friends. Initially funded by the Canadian government, the Montreal-based circus became a for-profit group in 1985. He bought out majority partner in 2000. Hit jackpot when Steve Wynn brought Cirque to Las Vegas in 1991. Today group has six permanent shows in Sin City. In 2008 he sold 20% of Cirque to two Dubai firms for $600 million.
