Lorenzo Mendoza

Head of Empresas Polar, one of Venezuela's largest private companies. Produces Polar beer and staples like flour, condiments, tuna fish and wine. Grandson of company founder. Despite leftist President Hugo Chavez's continued public threats to nationalize Polar if it was caught hoarding food (Polar said it has no role in the country's food shortages), company remains private. In November was a recipient of the American Business Council's award in recognition of his contributions to creating positive changes in Latin America. Family runs one of Venezuela's biggest charities.
