Michael Herz

With mother Ingeburg, his four siblings Daniela, Gunter, Joachim and Wolfgang, inherited a fortune from his late father, coffee baron Max Herz. All except Joachim, who died, have separate billion-dollar fortunes. Helped push out brother Gunter and sister Daniela in 2003 in a drawn-out family feud. Now holds 35% stake in $4.5 billion (sales) Maxingvest AG, formerly called Tchibo, makers of Germany's best-known coffee brand, Tchibo. Group also has 50% stake in Beiersdorf AG, which makes Nivea skin care products. Michael and Wolfgang are on the management board. Brother Joachim died in 2008 after being hit by a boat while swimming in a Georgia lake; left his share of the family fortune to a charitable foundation.
