Suzanne Malveaux co-anchors CNN's "Around the World." She also solo anchors "CNN Newsroom." For 10 years she worked as a correspondent in The White House where she covered Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. Malveaux started as a general assignment reporter for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., and WFXT-TV and New England Cable News in Boston. In September 2011, she was embedded with U.S. troops in Afghanistan where she led breaking news coverage of the Taliban's terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy there. In October 2012 she traveled to South Africa where she interviewed family of Nelson Mandela and covered Soweto "36 years out of the student uprising." She recently won a National Emmy Award for her role in anchoring "Outstanding Live Coverage of a Current News Story-Revolution in Egypt: President Mubarak Steps Down." She also received a Peabody Award for her role in CNN's coverage of the Arab Spring. Malveaux recently covered President Obama's 2013 inauguration in Washington, D.C. and the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. She was also recently recognized by Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism for covering "One of the top 50 stories of the Century" for her reporting on the 2008 Obama campaign. She has been recognized as "One of America's Most Powerful Players under 40" by Black Enterprise, an "Outstanding Women in Marketing & Communications" by Ebony, one of the "Most Influential Young African Americans" by The Root.com 100's, and "2009 Journalist of the Year" by Essence Magazine. Malveaux earned a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a Master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. Malveaux is personally dedicated to promoting awareness and research for ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). She enjoys participating in marathons and triathlons. She has been named an Aspen Institute Henry Crown Fellow, an Aspen Global Leadership Network fellow, and is an Honorary Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She holds four honorary bachelor degrees. She is a 2011 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
