John G. Labrie is president of Con-way Freight, the largest of Con-way Inc.’s three operating companies, with annual revenues exceeding $3 billion. Con-way Inc. (NYSE:CNW), a $4.7 billion freight transportation and logistics services company headquartered in San Mateo, Calif. Con-way delivers industry-leading services through its primary operating companies of Con-way Freight, Menlo Worldwide Logistics and Con-way Truckload. These operating units provide high-performance, day-definite less-than-truckload (LTL), full truckload and intermodal freight transportation; as well as logistics, warehousing and supply chain management services; and trailer manufacturing. Con-way Inc. and its subsidiaries operate from more than 500 operating locations across North America and in 17 countries across five continents. A 17-year Con-way veteran, Mr. Labrie is responsible for spearheading strategic initiatives aimed at growth, expansion and optimization of operations to provide differentiated services and improved value for Con-way Freight clients. Prior to being named president of Con-way Freight in July 2007, Mr. Labrie was senior vice president of strategy and enterprise operations for Con-way Inc. Before that, he served as executive vice president of operations for Con-Way Transportation Services (now known as Con-way Freight). From 2002 to 2005, he served as president and chief executive officer of Con-Way Western Express, one of Con-way Transportation Services’ (CTS) three regional LTL trucking companies. From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Labrie was vice president of operations for Con-way Western Express, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the trucking company’s 83 operating locations and line-haul operations. Before that, he served as director of strategic planning for CTS, where he acted as an internal consultant to the parent company’s Priority Mail operations and Con-way Western Express’ line-haul operations. Mr. Labrie joined the organization in 1990 as an account manager in Con-way Transportation Services’ Business Development Center. In 1991, he was promoted to account executive. He continued to increase his scope of responsibility and, in 1995, was promoted to director of line-haul operations for Con-way Central Express. Prior to joining Con-way, Mr. Labrie served as an operations supervisor with Roadway Express. Mr. Labrie is a native of Mt. Pleasant, Mich. He studied abroad at Cambridge University prior to earning a bachelor’s degree in finance from Central Michigan University. He also holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. Mr. Labrie is based at Con-way Freight’s headquarters in Ann Arbor, Mich.
