Steven Ellman has been Chairman and CEO since the company's formation in 1972. The group today consists of over 75 privately held companies with operations in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Ellman's commercial real estate business spans the spectrum of retail, entertainment centers, office buildings and land development. Ellman has been designated as the number one commercial real estate developer in Phoenix three of the past six years and for the past several years, Ellman has also maintained the ranking as one of the largest American-based owners of Canadian real estate, with operations in Toronto and Winnipeg. Ellman is Vice-Chairman and a founding partner of Clear Channel Outdoor Canada. The company's outdoor advertising business services airports, transit, freeway and city spectaculars across Canada. Ellman also serves as Chairman, Governor, and Managing Partner of the Phoenix Coyotes National Hockey League Franchise, which franchise he acquired with NHL Hall of Famer, Wayne Gretzky. A second sports franchise acquisition was completed last year when Ellman acquired the Columbus Land Sharks, a National Lacrosse League team, which was relocated and renamed the Arizona Sting. Ellman recently completed construction on the Glendale Arena, a state-of-the-art 17,799 seat multi-purpose venue that will anchor Westgate City Center, a 6.5 million square foot, 223-acre retail, entertainment, office, hotel and residential mixed-use urban development located in Glendale, Arizona. Westgate is planned to become a super-regional destination as well as one of the largest developments in North America, estimated to attract over 18 million visitors annually.
