Beau Biden

Joseph R. “Beau” Biden, III took office as Delaware’s 44th Attorney General in January 2007. Beau Biden’s public service began at the United States Department of Justice in 1995. From 1995 to 1997, he served as Counsel in the Office of Policy Development, working on a variety of issues, including those related to the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, the Violence Against Women Act, and with regard to missing and exploited children. General Biden served as a Federal Prosecutor in the United States Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia from 1997 until 2002. In 2001, General Biden served as Interim Legal Advisor for the United States Department of Justice in post-war Kosovo. Beau Biden was engaged in private law practice from 2002 until his election as Attorney General. General Biden serves as a Captain in the Delaware Army National Guard’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps and is assigned to the 261st Signal Brigade in Smyrna, Delaware. In October 2008, the Unit was activated for a 12-month deployment to Iraq. After completing that deployment with his Unit, Attorney General Biden returned to the Delaware Department of Justice in October 2009. Beau Biden is a graduate of Archmere Academy in Wilmington, Delaware, the University of Pennsylvania and Syracuse University College of Law. He was born and raised in Delaware and currently lives in Wilmington with his wife Hallie and their two children.
