He has been an active participant in the oil and gas industry since the 1960s and was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bettis Corporation, an actuator company, until 1996, when Bettis Corporation merged with Daniel Industries, Inc., and was a director and member of the Executive Committee of Daniel Industries until June 1999, when Daniel Industries merged with Emerson Electric Co.
