He is UJC’s immediate past National Campaign Chair for the 2007 national campaign. Coming from Omaha, Nebraska, with a Jewish population of 6,000, Joel has devoted his time to Jewish causes since his 20’s. He was an advisor to BBYO’s founding Chapter AZA #1 and was the president of his Jewish fraternity (Sigma Alpha Mu) at the University of Texas. He also occupied the one undergraduate seat on his fraternity’s international board. Joel joined UJC’s National Young Leadership Cabinet in 1992 and became Cabinet’s national Co-Chair in 1997. Joel served two terms as the national chair of UJC's Network Communities which comprises 360 small Jewish communities around the U.S. He was also the general Campaign Chair for the Omaha Federation's year 2000 campaign. Joel speaks in communities all over the country on topics including solicitation training, overseas allocations, and Jewish motivation. In his professional life, Joel is the president of Omaha Fixture International, an importer and distributor of retail display fixtures serving retailers nationally. He is a member of the Young Presidents Association (YPO) and has created a Jewish lecture streaming audio website at www.jadio.org. He recently married Dr. Daphna Pollak having met his wife at UJC’s General Assembly in Toronto in November 2005.
