Jonah immigrated to the United States from Israel in 1970 as an exchange student and obtained citizenship seven years later. A successful diamond trader for many years, Jonah Mandelbaum never lost his love for building which was nurtured by his involvement in a family-owned cabinet business. In 1984, Jonah settled in Warwick and established MJJ Builders. A successful builder of luxury single-family homes, Jonah expanded into building affordable multi-family housing for senior citizens in 1995 and currently owns over 1,200 apartments in three counties. He recently transitioned the multi-family housing to include work force housing and apartments for people with special needs, partnering with Occupations, Inc. Jonah is CEO of MJJ Builders Corp., Devon Management and Warwick Properties. Mandelbaum has also served on the boards of trustees for the Winslow Therapeutic Center, The Hudson Valley Home Builders’ Association and St. Anthony Community Hospital and maintains a current position on the Orange County Water Authority. He has been the recipient of many honors including the Orange County Human Rights Commission Award, Orange County Distinguished Service Award, 2004 Winslow award and the Yeshiva Ohr Naftoli Heart of Gold Award.
