Ross Kari, the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Freddie Mac, received his bachelor's degree in mathematics and his master's degree in business administration from the University of Oregon.
Kari spent a large portion of his career – from 1983 to 2001 – at Wells Fargo, rising from senior financial analyst to executive vice president and chief financial officer. He has also served as chief financial officer of myCFO, Inc., chief operating officer for the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco; chief financial officer of Safeco Corporation in Seattle; and as chief financial officer of Fifth Third Bancorp in Cincinnati. He was named to his current position at Freddie Mac in September 2009, and is responsible for the company's financial controls, accounting, investor relations, financial planning and reporting, tax, capital oversight and compliance with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley. He also oversees the Investment and Capital Markets division and management of Freddie Mac’s mortgage investment activities
Kari is a member of the Board of Advisors of the UO's Lundquist College of Business. He has also been a director of KKR Financial Holdings LLC – a publicly traded specialty finance company – since the company’s inception in 2004, and serves as chair of the board’s audit committee.
