Robert E. Sanchez is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Ryder System, Inc., a Fortune 500 global transportation and supply chain management solutions company. He is responsible for Ryder's financial management functions including the Finance and Audit, Strategic Sourcing, Information Technology, Investor Relations and Public Affairs functions. Mr. Sanchez is a member of Ryder's Executive Leadership Team. Most recently, Mr. Sanchez was Executive Vice President of Operations of U.S. Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) for Ryder, where he was responsible for all U.S. FMS operations. This included responsibility for a fleet of more than 145,000 vehicles and more than 800 maintenance facilities. Prior to this appointment, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Ryder, where he was responsible for all technology-related functions. He led the improvement of efficiencies in the Information Technology (IT) organization, reducing annual operating costs by $45 million. Mr. Sanchez joined Ryder in 1993 and has served with distinction in a number of capacities within Ryder, including Regional Finance Director for Supply Chain Solutions (SCS); Group Director of Financial Analysis, responsible for SCS pricing globally; Manager of Strategic Planning; Vice President of Asset Management; and Senior Vice President of Global Transportation Management. Prior to joining Ryder in 1993, Mr. Sanchez served two years as an Applications Engineer at Florida Power and Light and as a Controls Engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in 1987. He served as Chair of the 2003 Ryder United Way Campaign and is a member of the United Way Leadership Circle and the Wharton Alumni Association. Mr. Sanchez is a Board Member of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council and the Association of Cuban Engineers. He was the recipient of the 2001 ACE Engineer of the Year Award and the 2002 Young Hispanic Leadership Award. Mr. Sanchez earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Finance and a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Computer Science from the University of Miami.
