Lamar M Chambers

Ashland Inc. Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Lamar Chambers, 53, has covered an extensive range of financial, administrative and operational responsibilities broadly within Ashland. Elected to his current position in 2008, Chambers most recently held the position of vice president and controller for four years and was responsible for Ashland’s global financial accounting and reporting processes, including oversight of accounting policies and practices, external and internal financial reporting, new accounting standards and developments and managerial accounting. He will continue to handle those additional responsibilities until a replacement is named. Chambers joined Ashland in 1976 as a staff auditor in internal auditing. The following years he moved through various analyst positions with Ashland Coal and Ashland Paving And Construction, Inc. (APAC), leading to the appointment of controller for APAC in 1987. After returning to the corporate sector of Ashland as assistant controller in 1991, Chambers was selected to serve as executive assistant to former Ashland Inc. Chairman and CEO John R. Hall in 1994. Shortly thereafter in 1996, Chambers was named to the position of administrative vice president for Ashland Petroleum Company and subsequently named vice president, finance and controller for Marathon Ashland Petroleum, LLC in 1998. Chambers was designated to the position of auditor for Ashland later in 1998. In 2001, he was named senior vice president, finance and administration for APAC; and then named vice president of regional operations for APAC in 2003. Chambers was elected to vice president and controller of Ashland in 2004, where he remained until named to his present role of senior vice president and chief financial officer in 2008. A native of Marietta, Ga., Chambers earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of West Georgia in 1976. He is also a graduate of the Executive Development Program at Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
