Ellen Oran Kaden joined Campbell as Senior Vice President-Law and Government Affairs in April 1998. She is the chief legal officer of the company and a principal advisor to the Board of Directors on legal and corporate governance matters. Ellen reports to Denise Morrison, President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Campbell, Ellen was Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of CBS Inc. She previously practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City. Ellen earned her B.A. degree from Cornell University and was a Graduate Fellow of the Danforth Foundation at the University of Chicago. After earning her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, she served as law clerk to the Honorable Marvin E. Frankel of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and then as a member of the Faculty of Law at Columbia University, where she taught contracts, civil procedure, and commercial law. Ellen is a Trustee Emerita of Columbia University, and a member of the Corporate General Counsel Section of the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Council. On March 21, 2012, the Compensation and Organization Committee of the Board of Directors of Campbell Soup Company approved the promotion of Ellen O. Kaden to Senior Vice President - Chief Legal and Public Affairs Officer, effective April 1, 2012. On October 21, 2014, Campbell Soup Company announced that Ellen Oran Kaden, Senior Vice President - Chief Legal and Public Affairs Officer, has informed Campbell of her decision to retire on May 1, 2015. Ms. Kaden will step down from her current role on January 31, 2015.
