Mr. Donald Kent Peterson, served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Avaya Inc. from September 30, 2000 to July 24, 2006. And served as its Chairman form January 2002 to September 30, 2006. Mr. Peterson served as the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of Lucent Technologies Inc.'s (Lucent) Enterprise Networks Group from March 1, 2000 to September 30, 2000. He served as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for Lucent from February 1996 to March 1, 2000 following his employment with AT&T Corp. Starting in 1995, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of AT&T's Communications services Group. He began his career in 1973 as a Senior Analyst at State Mutual Life Assurance Company in Worcester, Massachusetts. He joined Nortel Networks in 1976 and advanced through a number of key financial, sales and General Management Positions in the United States and Canada, including serving as Nortel's Chief Financial Officer from 1986 to 1987. Since 1994, he served as the President of Nortel Communications Systems Inc., Nashville, Tennessee, where he was responsible for direct sales to end users for PBX, key, packet switch and broadband products in the United States and for sales of PBX and key products in Canada. He is a Trustee Emeritus of Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He served as Vice Chairman of Board of Directors of Avaya Inc., from September 30, 2000 to January 2002. He serves as a Director of Sanford C. Bernstein Fund Inc. and the Bernstein Fund Inc. families of mutual funds, since 2007 and 2015, respectively. He serves as a Trustee of Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund. He serves as a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations; a Member of the World Economic Forum and Amos Tuck School of Business Administration. He serves as a Trustee of Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association of America (TIAA) at TIAA Real Estate Account. He served as a Director of Personalized Media, Inc. (alternate name is Knewco, Inc.). He served as a Director of Avaya Inc. since September 30, 2000. He served as a Director of The Reynolds and Reynolds Company from 1998 to February 17, 2004. His professional qualifications include being a Chartered Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Analyst. Mr. Peterson attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he received B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1971. He has an M.B.A. from Dartmouth College's Amos Tuck School in Hnover, New Hampshire, in 1973.
