Jim Cracchiolo has been Chairman and CEO of Ameriprise Financial since 2005, when the company, American Express Financial Advisors, completed its spin-off from American Express. Mr. Cracchiolo led Ameriprise through its first decade as a public company while generating strong shareholder value. Previously, Mr. Cracchiolo held many senior positions at American Express, including leading businesses with domestic and global operations. Mr. Cracchiolo served as Group President American Express Global Financial Services (2000-05) and held the following roles: Chairman and CEO of American Express Financial Advisors; Chairman of American Express International Bank; and CEO of Travel Related Services International. Mr. Cracchiolo was President and CEO of Travel Related Services International (1998-2000); President of Global Network Services (1997-98); SVP of Travel Related Services Quality, Global Reengineering and Strategy (1993-97); and EVP and CFO of Shearson Lehman Brothers (then a unit of American Express) (1990-93). Mr. Cracchiolo is a member of the Business Roundtable and Financial Services Roundtable. He’s served on the boards of directors of the American Council of Life Insurers, Financial Services Roundtable and on the board of advisors to March of Dimes. Mr. Cracchiolo holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics and an MBA in finance, both from NYU.
