Travis Sullivan is the director of policy and strategic planning at the U.S. Department ofCommerce. In this role, Sullivan is the chief policy advisor to the Secretary. His office develops and coordinates the department’s strategic priorities. Sullivan most recently worked as a Business Strategy and Marketing executive within the Boeing Company’s Commercial Airplanes division. Prior to joining Boeing, Sullivan served as senior policy advisor for foreign affairs, national security and trade to U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell. He has also worked as an international trade specialist in the Office of the Under Secretary for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce and at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the White House. Sullivan earned bachelor’s degrees in international studies and political science from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in international affairs from the Elliott School of International Studies at George Washington University and a Ph.D. in international relations theory from Johns Hopkins University. He is a graduate of the Executive General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
