Steven F. Hayward, is the Thomas Smith Fellow at the Ashbrook Center at Ashland University and is currently the William Simon Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy at Pepperdine University. He holds a Ph.D in American Studies and an M.A. in Government from Claremont Graduate School. He is currently the Thomas Smith Distinguished Visiting Professor at Ashland University. He writes frequently on a wide range of current topics, including environmentalism, law, economics, and public policy for publications including National Review, Reason, The Weekly Standard, The American Spectator, The Public Interest, the Claremont Review of Books, and Policy Review. His newspaper articles have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Chicago Tribune, and dozens of other daily newspapers. He is also a grant advisor to the Searle Freedom Trust, a member of the board of the Institute for Energy Research, PERC, The Sand County Foundation, and the Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University.
