Andrew Olmem will serve as Special Assistant to the President for Financial Policy. Olmem was previously a partner at Venable, LLP in Washington, D.C. He served as the Republican Chief Counsel and Deputy Staff Director at the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and was on the staff of the Committee from 2005 until 2013. He previously was counsel to U.S. Senator George V. Voinovich. Mr. Olmem began his legal career as a corporate associate at the law firm of Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw LLP in New York City. Before attending law school, he served as an assistant economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Mr. Olmem received his B.A. in economics from Washington and Lee University, and his J.D., cum laude, from the Washington and Lee University School of Law.
