He currently chairs the St. Louis Regional Board of Teach for America, an organization committed to addressing educational inequality that recruits and trains talented young women and men from across the United States to teach in urban school districts. As a member and former President of Civic Progress, the organization composed of leaders from the region’s largest employers, McClure has been active on a number of initiatives. Of note is his work to address issues in education, including improvements to the St. Louis Public Schools. He is the former President of UniGroup, Inc. and has held significant public policy leadership positions in Missouri and Illinois. He is on the boards of the St. Louis United Way, and the St. Louis Area Council Boy Scouts of America. Rich McClure became president of UniGroup, Inc., the parent company of Mayflower, in April 2002. He came to the UniGroup companies in 1995 as executive vice president/chief operating officer of United Van Lines. From 1997 until early 2000, he was president of UniGroup Worldwide and from March 2000 until being appointed to his current position, he was group executive vice president of financial services for UniGroup. Prior to joining United, Mr. McClure was employed for two years as manager of corporate services for Central Bancompany of Jefferson City, Mo. From 1985 until 1992, he was chief of staff for then-Missouri Governor and former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft. Previously, he was employed by the State of Illinois as deputy chief of staff and assistant to the Governor during 1980-1984; and as director of Illinois' central management services (1984-85). Mr. McClure earned his bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State University and his master's degree from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.
