Half of the songwriting team of Leiber and Stoller, Mike Stoller wrote many hit songs with his partner Jerry Leiber, including many for Elvis Presley and The Coasters. Stoller was born on March 13, 1933 in Belle Harbor, Queens, New York City, New York, USA. He has been married to Corky Hale since 1970. He was previously married to Meryl Stoller. Lieber and Stoller wrote for such hits as "Hound Dog", "Charlie Brown" and "On Broadway". Their career produced 15 #1 hits in different musical genres by such artists ranging from Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to Willie Nelson, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin. Typically the Leiber & Stoller writing collaboration involved Stoller on piano composing the melodies and Leiber writing the lyrics. Their partnership lasted for 61 years. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame under the category Non-Performer (1987).
