Paul Borman, former president and chairman of Farmer Jack supermarkets and a philanthropist, died in Boca Raton, Florida on Tuesday May 3 2022. He was 89. Borman graduated from Michigan State University in 1953 and proceeded to serve in the army until 1956. He worked with his father at Borman Foods, a growing business in the food industry. Borman became president of the company in 1962, where he gave the Borman food markets a new name — Farmer Jack. The company had more than 100 stores and 7,500 employees by 1980 and was sold to The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, known as A&P in 1989. Norman retired at the time of the sale. The last Farmer Jack closed its doors in 2007. Borman is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marlene; his three sons, Stuart, Gilbert and Eric, six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
