Randall S Friese

Randall Friese, MD, is a tenured professor with the University of Arizona Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burn and Emergency Surgery. Dr. Friese is a board-certified general surgeon with added qualifications is critical care. He is currently a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. MA: University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Clinical Sciences, 2008 MD: University of Maryland School of Medicine, 1990 Dr. Friese obtained his medical degree from the University of Maryland College of Medicine in Baltimore. He then completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Colorado, Denver. Following his initial surgical training, he served as a general surgeon in the US Navy Medical Corp and was stationed in Japan and southern California. Before arriving at the University of Arizona, Dr. Friese completed a fellowship in trauma and critical care at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical (UTSW) Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He also served on faculty at UTSW for seven years. While on faculty at UTSW, he obtained a master’s degree in clinical sciences. Dr. Friese joined the University of Arizona in 2008 and has established a successful trauma/surgical critical care and elective general surgery practice. He has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in addition to receiving teaching awards from the surgical residents.
