Coit graduated from the University of Arizona in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy but left the industry after a few years to focus on investing. That hasn’t stopped him from supporting pharmacy education, however. With his recent $50 million gift included, he’s either donated or pledged a total of $68 million to the UA College.of Pharmacy. Coit has been a private real estate investment banker, since 1972, specializing in West Coast multifamily and vertical integrated with Sequoia Equities of Walnut Creek, California. His firm has nearly 3 billion dollars of value of multifamily under management. The College of Pharmacy has been officially renamed the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy in honor of Coit’s contributions.
