David Weitnauer has been President of the R. Howard Dobbs, Jr., Foundation since 2007. He came to the Dobbs Foundation following an 11 year relationship with the Rockdale Foundation where he was a founding board member and its first Executive Director. David serves as a board member of the National Center for Family Philanthropy; trustee of the John H. and Wilhelmina D. Harland Charitable Foundation and the Rockdale Foundation; Steering Committee member for the Georgia Social Impact Collaborative; and advisory committee member for Candid South. David served previously as a trustee of Agnes Scott College, Columbia Theological Seminary, the Southeastern Council of Foundations and he was the founding chairperson of the Georgia Grantmakers Alliance. David was a member of SECF’s inaugural class of Hull Fellows. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), David has been on the pastoral staff of several congregations and served for seven years as a pastoral counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist with an ecumenical counseling center in Atlanta. A 1982 graduate of Davidson College, he received his Master of Divinity in 1986 and his Doctor of Theology in 1997 from Columbia Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Nancy, have two adult children, Sam and Claire.
