David Chao is a cofounder & General Partner of DCM, an early stage IT venture capital firm managing over $1.6 billion. His past experiences include roles at Recruit, Apple, and McKinsey. Prior to DCM, he was a cofounder and Board member of JCI, a public company that is Japan’s largest MVNO. David serves on the Boards of numerous DCM portfolio companies in the U.S. and Asia. He is also on the Board of 51job (Nasdaq: JOBS), Spansion (Nasdaq: SPSN) and responsible for the investments in All About Japan, Inc. (JASDAQ: 2454), Kabu.com (TSE: 8703), Recourse Technologies (acquired by Symantec), SMIC (NYSE: SMI), and eDreams (acquired by TA.) He currently sits on the Board of Bit Torrent, Sling Media, Mop.com and 99Bill. He is listed as a Top 10 venture capitalist by Forbes Magazine in 2006 and also serves on the Board of Legend Capital in China and Red Herring. David holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University and a B.A. with high honors in Economics and East Asian Studies (Anthropology) from Brown University.
