James Michael Gatling is corporate vice president, global manufacturing at Baxter. He is responsible for the global manufacturing operations for the Medication Delivery and Renal global business units, Global Supply Chain, Environment, Health & Safety. Gatling also leads Baxter's Manufacturing Council, which is responsible for identifying and addressing critical worldwide manufacturing issues. Gatling joined Baxter in 1975 as an industrial engineer and progressed through a variety of positions in manufacturing. His previous positions include plant manager for Baxter facilities in Cleveland, Mississippi, and Marion, North Carolina. Gatling assumed responsibility for I.V. Systems manufacturing operations in 1994, and in May 1996 was promoted to vice president of global manufacturing operations, I.V. Systems/Medical Products. In December 1996, Gatling was named corporate vice president, I.V. Systems/Medical Products. He also assumed responsibility for Renal manufacturing in 1997. Prior to joining Baxter, Gatling worked at Anderson Clayton and Northern Electric. Gatling received a bachelor's degree in industrial management from Mississippi State University.
