B Capital Group, a global, multi-stage investment firm founded by Raj Ganguly, Eduardo Saverin, and Howard Morgan, today announced the appointment of their new Vice Chairman, Sheila Patel, to their executive leadership team. She joins the firm as B Capital continues to bolster its global presence and expansion into China. Sheila joins B Capital from Goldman Sachs, where she was Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. and a member of the management committee. She retired from the $1.8tn division in December 2020. Patel started at Goldman in 2003 as a managing director, after having worked for seven years as head of trading strategy at Morgan Stanley. Prior to becoming chair, Patel was co-head of equities distribution in Asia and head of US derivative sales and US synthetics sales at Goldman Sachs. She has been a partner at the firm since 2006. As chair, she focused on portfolio solutions, sustainable finance, emerging growth themes, governance and other long-term trends to advise clients. Patel’s departure is one of several recent senior moves at the asset manager. Last year the firm announced that Eric Lane and Julian Salisbury will be co-leads of the asset management divison, replacing Tim O’Neill.
