Joe Hurd

Hurd Is CEO of Katama since 2004. He is global managing director of SOSV, and currently serves on the board of SilverBox Engaged Merger Corp. Earlier in his career, Joe led strategic business development and sales teams at Facebook, Gannett, AOL/TimeWarner, Friendster and VideoEgg. Between 2009 and 2012, Joe served as a senior political appointee in the U.S. Commerce Department during President Obama’s first term, advising Secretaries of Commerce Locke and Bryson on international trade policy. In addition to Menlo College, Joe is a director of Goco Group plc (LSE: GOCO), a London-listed financial services, utilities and home services comparison company, and the American Swiss Foundation. Joe obtained his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, where he was a member of the varsity swimming team, his master’s in international affairs from Columbia University, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
