Janet Dhillon became US Airways' senior vice president, and general counsel in August 2006. She retained her position as the company's Compliance Officer. Dhillon is responsible for directing the Company’s legal affairs, including litigation, commercial transactions and the legal aspects of regulatory matters. Dhillon is also responsible for corporate governance matters. Most recently Dhillon served as vice president, deputy general counsel. Prior to being appointed vice president, deputy general counsel, Dhillon was a managing director and associate general counsel. Before joining US Airways, Inc. in August 2004, Dhillon was a counsel with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. Her practice focused on complex commercial litigation matters for a variety of sophisticated clients including Citibank, Deloitte & Touche LLP and Farmers Insurance Company. Ms. Dhillon is a 1991 graduate of UCLA Law School, where she ranked first in her class and was awarded Order of the Coif. Dhillon graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Occidental College in 1984 with a degree in history (high honors) and minor degree in political science. Between 1984 and 1987, she worked in the insurance industry for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company and Industrial Indemnity Insurance Company.
