Colby H. Chandler, chairman and CEO of Eastman Kodak from 1983 to 1990, died March 4 2021 at age 95. Mr. Chandler joined Kodak in 1950 after graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in physics. A native of that New England state, he was a quality control engineer before rising through the ranks of management. After earning a master’s degree in business from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1963, he directed development of Kodak’s Ektaprint copiers and duplicators and was involved in the launch of its wildly popular pocket Instamatic camera line. He was named company president in 1977 and became chairman and CEO six years later. Mr. Chandler retired from Kodak in 1990 at age 65.
