CEO-founder in the government contracting community, former executive leader of Girl Scouts Nation's Capital and founding partner of the Washington Nationals, died Nov. 30 2020 after a battle with breast cancer. Fields, a 2015 Washington Business Journal Women Who Mean Business honoree, in 1986 founded Integrated Resource Technologies Inc., an Alexandria-based government consulting firm with a focus on the Department of Defense and intelligence community. She had come to D.C. in search of consulting work, initially landing at Digital Equipment Corp. With her husband of 46 years Ike, who served as chief operation officer of the company, Fields built IRT into a notable firm not only across the defense space, but also serving agencies like the departments of Energy and Homeland Security. Fields was also active outside of her business, serving as president of the board of the Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital from 2014 until her retirement in April of this year and becoming a founding partner of the Washington Nationals in 2006, making her a rare Black female owner in the sport.
