Matt Anestis, Managing Director, serves as the Global Head of Performance for BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI). He is responsible all BAI investment processes, investment governance, performance measurement and reporting. BAI currently manages over $185 billion in total assets and client commitments with a team of over 1,000 professionals across Real Assets, Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Credit and Alternatives Solutions. Mr. Anestis also serves as a member the Global Real Estate Debt, US Real Estate Equity, EMEA Real Estate Equity and Global Renewable Power Investment Committees. Prior to assuming his current responsibilities in 2018, Mr. Anestis was Global Head of BlackRock Platform Innovation and Chief of Staff to the COO of BlackRock. Previous to that he served as the Head of BlackRock's Boston office and COO of BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI). In this role he helped build the structures and processes necessary to support the growth of BAI, which managed over US $100 billion in alternative assets for the company. Mr. Anestis has also served as COO of BlackRock's Aladdin Product Group, the Chief of Staff to BlackRock's President and as a member of BlackRock's Global Operating Committee, Enterprise Risk Management Committee, Global Human Capital Committee and Americas Executive Committee. Prior to joining BLK in 2009, Mr. Anestis was a Partner and MD with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Hong Kong and also worked in BCG's Boston and Toronto offices. He has also worked with Microsoft and in the White House. Mr. Anestis serves as Senior Advisor to the Presidential Scholars Foundation, and is a former member of its Board of Trustees. He founded Boston Volunteer Bridge and Toronto Volunteer Bridge, and was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2006. Mr. Anestis earned an undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, in economics from Harvard, an MBA degree, with high distinction, from Harvard Business School (Baker Scholar), and a JD degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
