Mr. Mayer is a Managing Director of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. (“Cerberus”). Cerberus, a private investment firm with over $15 billion of capital under management, acquires, and invests in equity and debt of, middle-market companies that exhibit the potential for business improvement or are otherwise not considered core by their current owners. As a senior member of Cerberus’ Private Equity group and a member of Cerberus’ Investment Committee, Mr. Mayer focuses primarily on acquisitions of controlling equity interests in companies involved in the technology, telecommunications, media, health care, and business services industries in the United States and Europe. Prior to joining Cerberus in 2002, Mr. Mayer was an Executive Managing Director of Gores Technology Group, a private equity investment firm that acquires controlling interests in and manages under-performing and non-core technology and telecommunications companies. Prior to joining Gores, Mr. Mayer was a Managing Director of Libra Capital Partners, L.P., a private equity investment firm that invests in management buyouts, leveraged re-capitalizations, and later stage growth capital, and was also a managing director and co-head of the Corporate Finance division of U.S. Bancorp Libra, an affiliated firm. U.S. Bancorp Libra was the leveraged finance unit of U.S. Bancorp, the nation’s eighth-largest bank holding company with over $160 billion in assets. From June 1994 until November 1996, Mr. Mayer was a Managing Director of Aries Capital Group, LLC, a private equity investment firm that he co-founded. From April 1992 until June 1994, Mr. Mayer was a principal with Apollo Advisors, L.P. and Lion Advisors, L.P., affiliated private investment firms. Prior to that time, Mr. Mayer was an attorney with Sullivan & Cromwell specializing in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts and corporate finance. During his professional career, Mr. Mayer has played a leading role in hundreds of transactions ranging in size from $3 million to over $4 billion. In addition to his Board role with DecisionOne, Mr. Mayer is a member of the Boards of Directors of Acterna Inc., the leading global manufacturer of test and measurement equipment for the telecommunications industry (audit committee); Airway Industries, Inc., the nation’s second largest luggage company; BlueLinx Holdings Inc., the nation’s leading distributor of building materials; LNR Property Holdings Ltd., a leader in commercial real estate development and finance; MAI Systems Corporation, a software company (audit committee); and Talecris Biotherapeutics Holdings, Inc., a leading global producer of plasma-derived therapeutic products (audit committee). Mr. Mayer received his A.B., cum laude, from Princeton University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
