In 2017, Carmela Coyle became president and CEO of the California Hospital Association, one of the largest hospital trade associations in the country. CHA represents more than 400 California hospitals and health systems. Prior to joining CHA, she spent nine years leading the Maryland Hospital Association as its president and CEO. She also held senior policy positions with the American Hospital Association, where she worked for 20 years. At the start of her career, she was an analyst for the Congressional Budget Office in Washington, D.C. In addition to earning an undergraduate degree, she completed course work at the University of Michigan’s Pew Health Policy Program and Yale University. Carleton College
