G Gilmer Minor III

G. Gilmer Minor III retired as board chairman in 2013 of Hanover County-based Owens & Minor Inc., a position he had held since 1994. He served as CEO of the medical products distribution company from 1984 to 2005. He joined the company in 1963. Minor, the fourth generation of his family to work for Owens & Minor — he was named after the company’s co-founder — served in leadership positions during the company’s period of fastest growth. Minor retired as CEO in 2005 and stepped down as board chairman in April 2013. As chairman emeritus, Minor still keeps office hours at Owens & Minor’s headquarters in Hanover. G. Gilmer Minor, III is Chairman of the Board of Owens & Minor. Mr. Minor, who joined the Company in 1963, has served as Chairman of the Board since 1994 and served as Chief Executive Officer from 1984 until July 2005. Mr. Minor retired from the Company effective November 1, 2005. He also serves on the board of directors of SunTrust Banks, Inc. Mr. Minor has been a director of the Company since 1980.
