Alex Halpern Levy is a speechwriter, communications strategist, and lawyer based in New York. He has written for and advised dozens of high-profile leaders in politics, business, philanthropy, academia, and advocacy. A.H. From 2008 to 2011, Alex served as chief speechwriter and Deputy Communications Director to U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY). He was also the Senator’s liaison to the LGBT community. Before launching A.H. Levy & Co., Alex was a Vice President in the New York office of SKDKnickerbocker, a national strategic communications and political consulting firm. A native of Buffalo, New York, Alex graduated with honors from Wesleyan University and received his J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from New York University School of Law. At NYU, Alex was a Guarini Scholar and was awarded the Bradford Prize for excellence in tax law and the Schreier Prize for ethics. His 2014 academic article, Believing in Life After Loving: IRS Regulation of Tax Preparers, published in the Florida Tax Review, won the national Tannenwald Prize for excellence in tax scholarship. His writings on behalf of clients have appeared in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Financial Times, POLITICO, The Jerusalem Post, New York Daily News, Health Affairs, STAT, The Atlantic, and Vogue. He has written under his own name for The New York Times. Alex clerked for Chief Judge Patti Saris of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and is a member of the New York Bar. He serves on the Board of the nonprofit theater company Playwrights Horizons and is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
