In 2018 global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has added John DeTore to its Boston office as a shareholder in the firm’s growing Energy & Natural Resources Practice. DeTore’s practice encompasses all aspects of energy project development. He has worked on numerous major energy projects involving billions of dollars in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York. DeTore has also participated in regulatory proceedings before state and federal agencies. His appellate experience includes 11 cases before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Among DeTore’s achievements is obtaining all regulatory approvals for the three most recent large power plants in Massachusetts. He also represented the first three power plant projects to be permitted by the Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board and the first merchant power plant to be licensed in Massachusetts. Based on these matters, the board modified their standards to meet the needs of these types of facilities. DeTore received his J.D. from Boston College Law School and his B.A. from Harvard College.
