Former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Knight Ridder, Inc. Mr. Ridder is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Knight Ridder, Inc. and served on the Board of Directors of The McClatchy Company, the second-largest newspaper company in the United States, from July 2006 to May 2008. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Knight Ridder from March 1995 to June 2006, served as company President from October 1989 to June 2006, and was President of the Newspaper Division from January 1986 to March 1995.
