Previously, Dr. Crossan was an Assistant Professor in Social Entrepreneurship in Trinity College Dublin’s School of Business, and she remains an Adjunct Visiting Professor for TCD. She has acted as a member of the European Commission’s Groupe d'experts de la Commission sur l'entrepreneuriat social (GECES) representing Ireland. An advocate of Engaged Scholarship, much of her teaching and work has focused on social innovation, social entrepreneurship and social enterprise in a post-conflict context. In 2017 she created and manages the Social Innovation Lab within the Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility at Swarthmore College. In Fall 2019, Denise will teach a new Engaged Scholarship class, "Social Innovation for Peace", which aims to pair Swarthmore students with Social Entrepreneurs in 3 post-conflict contexts, Colombia, Northern Ireland, and Japan. Students will work with the partners and the local community to devise a social innovation prototype to support peace & reconciliation.
