Bill Cody is the former chief investment officer of the Progressive Corporation. Bill joined Progressive in 1996 as a fixed income portfolio manager and has managed Progressive’s corporate bond, commercial mortgage backed, residential mortgage backed, asset backed, municipal bond, and preferred stock portfolios. He was named the manager of Progressive Capital Management in 2001 and been the company’s chief investment officer since 2003. He is also a member of Progressive’s 401k investment committee. Prior to joining Progressive, Bill worked as a proprietary fixed income derivatives trader at IBJ, CIBC, and Aubrey G. Lanston and began his post-business school career in institutional derivative sales at Paine Webber. Bill earned a BS in chemical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA in finance (Beta Gamma Sigma) from Columbia University.
