Ben Golub is a serial entrepreneur and CEO, who has played a key role in building six start-ups, (three as CEO). He is currently an active investor, board member, and advisor to multiple for-profit and non-profit organizations. Most recently, Ben served as the Chief Executive Officer of Docker, Inc. from 2013 to 2017. Docker is one of the fastest growing enterprise infrastructure and development companies and is the leader of the containerization and microservices movement. Since leaving Docker, Ben has served as an advisor/board member to several companies, including Minio, TrustE, Quilt, Streamlio, and Mayfield. He recently became the Executive Chair and Interim CEO of Storj Labs, a company in the storage and blockchain space that aims to be the Air BNB of disk drives. Prior to Docker, Ben was CEO of Gluster, Inc., an open source storage startup which experienced rapid growth, became a key player in the enterprise storage market, and was ultimately acquired by Red Hat in 2011. Prior to Gluster, Ben was CEO of Plaxo, Inc., leading it from a 15 person start-up to a successful consumer site, brand, and sale to Comcast in 2008. A Bay Area native, Ben got his first Silicon Valley job cutting apricots in an orchard which is now the site of Apple headquarters. Ben went on to become one of the early employees at both Avid and VeriSign. At VeriSign, he was SVP/GM of the Enterprise Security, SSL and Payments divisions, as well as CMO. Ben has a BA from Princeton and a joint MBA/MPP from Harvard. Among his failed start-ups, he includes trying to start a business school in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Ben has been a long time board member and adviser to Partners for Youth with Disabilities, a national non-profit that provides a wide variety of mentoring programs for children with disabilities, and Friendship Circle, Jewish non-profit matching teen volunteers with children with special needs (and which is headquartered at the OFJCC). Ben and his wife, Adean Golub, have three sons, and are both active members of local and national Jewish organizations such as Hausner, Kehilah, Kol Emeth, and AIPAC.
