John R Whitman

Mr. John R. Whitman is a Managing Partner at Sycamore Ventures since its inception. He is involved with the firm’s investment in Clear Technology, Equity Broadcasting Corp, EASYLINK, FloNetwork, Juno Online Services, MAKO Surgical Corp., RxHope.com, and z-kat. Mr. Whitman is also a Managing Partner at SMC. Prior to founding Sycamore in 1995, he was an Advisor to the Ford Motor Company, AT&T Venture Corp., the Hungarian-American Enterprise Fund, British and Commonwealth ... Holdings PLC, Coopers & Lybrand, the United States Agency for International Development (U.S.A.I.D.), and Prudential Securities Inc. From 1987 through 1990, Mr. Whitman was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Prudential-Bache Interfunding Inc. Prior to that, from 1980 to 1987, he held various positions at Citicorp, most notably as a Vice President of Citicorp Venture Capital Ltd. and Vice President in charge of the Corporate Finance Department at Citicorp International Bank Ltd from 1972 to 1980. Mr. Whitman is a Member of the Boards of Directors at Comprehensive Automotive Recycling Services Inc. Clear Technology, MAKO Surgical Corp., serves as a Member of Cross Border L.L.C., and serves as the Chairman of Z-KAT, Inc. In addition, he sits on the Board of Directors of Wil(l)son Haas Beverages, Travellers Emergency Network, RxHope, Inc., and Synxis Corp. Mr. Whitman graduated from Yale University in 1966 and holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 1971.
