These jobs do not require a bachelor’s degree—but many of these good jobs in industries such as healthcare and financial services do require some education beyond high school. Graphic from http://goodjobsdata.org/ In Massachusetts the median earnings of a good job that does not require a bachelor’s degree is $60,000. While these jobs do not require a bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma alone will not suffice. The associate’s degree, some career training or an industry-certified credential are now minimum requirements. As this report highlights, simply graduating from high school is no longer an option. As jobs traditionally held by high school graduates decline and wages diminish, it is imperative that students make completing high school a priority and develop a plan to pursue further education. Students should also be aware of the many options available to them in planning for success after high school. Massachusetts has a robust community college system for students looking to continue their education while preparing to enter the workplace. Read the full report here.
