Alan Zafran Senior Managing Director and Wealth Manager, First Republic Investment Management Alan Zafran is a senior managing director and wealth manager at First Republic Investment Management, where he continues his long career as a financial advisor to wealthy families and institutional investors. He previously co-founded independent registered investment advisory firm Luminous Capital in 2008. First Republic Bank acquired the company in 2012. Alan also helped to build the private banking and investment group at Merrill Lynch beginning in 1997. From 1990-1997, Alan worked for Goldman Sachs, where he began his career in the private client group. In addition to serving on SVCF’s board and investment committee, Alan also serves on the Portola Valley School Foundation Endowment Board of Trustees Investment Committee. He previously served on the boards for the Castilleja School, the International School of the Peninsula, and Venture Lending & Leasing VI. Alan is a regular contributor to Bloomberg Markets. He has been a CNBC-YPO Chief Executive Network member, a Wall Street Week contributor, and author of articles for financial publications including Forbes and The Street. He was one of Barron’s Top 100 Independent Wealth Advisors in 2014 and 2016. Alan holds a B.A.S. in political science and economics from Stanford University, Phi Beta Kappa, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
